Limestone, Quick Lime, Raw Dolomite and Burnt Dolomite are used for following of the steel

Limestone & Quick Lime is used as flux to refine the steel.

  • Limestone & Quick Lime to maintain the Basicity
  • Limestone & Quick Lime act as coolant and slag forming agent.
  • Raw Dolomite & Burnt Dolomite is used to increase the refractory lining life of the convertor.

    Limestone: CaCo3
    Quick Lime: CaO


    Chemical Composition.
    Limestone: CaO – 54% min
    Si – 1.0% max
    Mgo – 1.5% max
    LOI – 43% max


    Quick Lime (Calcined Lime): CaO - >= 90% min
    Mgo - <= 2%
    Sio2 - <= 2%
    LOI - <= 4% max


    Raw Dolomite: CaO - 30% min
    Mgo - 20% min
    Sio2 - 4% max
    LOI - <= 43% max

    Burnt Dolomite: CaO - >= 52% min
    Mgo - >= 32%
    Sio2 - <= 3%
    LOI - <= 8% max
